wowlaulau: Wow, laulau! A phrase or exclamation used in Hawaii to denote amazement, surprise, dismay, etc., as in "Wow, laulau! That was one huge wave!"

Origin: No idea

Usage: Interjection; slang

Further info: laulau is a traditional dish served in Hawaii. It often appears at lu'aus though many families serve it at an ordinary meal. It is typically pork, fish, and/or chicken wrapped up in taro leaves, bundled into ti leaves and then steamed for a long time. Usually it is served with side dishes such as poi, lomi lomi salmon, haupia, and kalua pork. So why is this word part of the exclamation? No clue. But I'm getting hungry.
